Spravato® is an FDA-approved esketamine nasal spray for adults with treatment-resistant depression, and patients from across Orange County receive it at our Newport Beach office beside John Wayne Airport. Each session takes place in the office under the supervision of our team and board-certified psychiatrist Hadi Estakhri, MD.
Spravato® contains esketamine, a form of ketamine that acts on the brain’s glutamate system rather than serotonin. It is approved for adults with treatment-resistant depression and is used in a structured, in-office program. Because of safety rules, it is never taken at home. Orange County patients come to our office for every dose and stay with us while the effects wear off.

In a private room, you use the nasal spray device under the direct supervision of our clinical staff.

No. Spravato is only given in a certified healthcare setting, and you stay for at least two hours of observation after each dose.
Spravato is not used in people with certain blood vessel conditions, such as an aneurysm or a history of bleeding in the brain, or with an allergy to esketamine or ketamine. Dr. Estakhri will review your full history before treatment.
Treatment usually starts with two sessions a week for four weeks, then weekly sessions for weeks five to eight. After that, sessions are weekly or every other week for as long as they help.
